  • Episode 0 – Confessions of a Small Biz Mama

Sharing is caring!

Hey, Mama. Welcome to the Small Biz Mama Podcast Episode 0. Today we'll talk a little bit about why we're here and why I hope you will listen. If you don't know me, my name is Kristin Ingram. I'll tell you a little bit more about myself after I talk about what I hope to accomplish here because ultimately, that is more important than who I am. My goal for this show is: in 15 minutes or less a week, I want to help you become a better businesswoman, to enjoy your life more, and to be the parent that you've always wanted to be.

That is what I am striving to do in my life. I am still learning. I'm still growing, and I know that I still have a long way to go. So for me, this podcast is about what I'm learning, what I've studied, what I've seen from other folks, what I’ve taught my clients, and things that I've learned along the way.

Who the hell am I?

As I said, my name is Kristin Ingram. Some of you know me from a podcast that I had called Small Biz Life with my husband, Jeff. Jeff and I are still together. We're still doing amazing. And, if you listened to that show, towards the end of the show, you know that we have a son named Erik.  Erik is now two and I just turned 40. Erik and I share a birthday, which is pretty cool, a day that Jeff will never forget.

Jeff and I have been married for 19 years in May, but we've been together for over 20 years and we both work from home for one of our businesses. I actually own two – I'm a certified public accountant, and I own a tax and consulting firm. We also own a company called Ingram Digital Media, which handles all of our educational products.

We have a course called Bookkeeper Training School where we teach moms how to create a full-time income while their kids are napping. That is a system that I had been playing with and had taught Jeff so that he could help me during tax season. Then we realized that there were a lot of moms out there that could benefit from learning this type of bookkeeping system. So that's what we teach. You could learn more about that at BookkeeperTrainingSchool.com.  If you're interested, go check it out.

I also teach at a university. I've taught for over 10 years. I teach taxes at the graduate and undergraduate levels. And I love being a mom.  I love our life and I love how fortunate we are to be able to spend so much time together. We actually enjoy spending that time together. And so for me, I am always looking for systems, where I can spend less time working and more time with Jeff and Erik, because ultimately, the most important thing for me is to spend time with them.

I'm also a cancer survivor, and that was one of the things that really woke me up as to what is important in life and what's not. It's hard sometimes when I see people get so bogged down in things that are just not important – you want to shake them and say, “Listen, it's really not that important. Don't waste your energy on that.” But it's really hard, I think, for people to understand that when they haven't gone through something life-threatening.

That's why this show is really important… to put things in perspective, to help you create better businesses, enjoy your life more, and be the kind of parent that you've always wanted to be.

What you’ll get out of the show

Also – if you're not a parent, you're still going to get a lot out of the show. If you don't own your own business yet, but you're thinking about it, you're going to get a ton out of this show. You're going to get to see the behind the scenes of what it's like.

I want to be a resource for you. We've been really fortunate in our lives to be able to have this life where Jeff and I are home raising Erik while working our businesses. I know a lot of people look at that and think, “How do they do that? How is that possible?” That's really what this show is all about – to give you a peek behind the curtain so that you can see what your life could look like, to give you tips and say, you're almost there, but you feel like you're working too much or you're not able to spend the time with your kids that you want to have. You're not getting enough sleep, but you're working all the time. Whatever your thing is, we want to help you get to the place where you really feel like you know you're there, you're at the pinnacle, you've made it. And so that's what we're going to do here.

I hope that you hit subscribe when you're done listening to this episode so you'll get all of our future episodes. I'm going to keep them short. 15 minutes a week is going to be some really valuable time for you.
